Preschool Education

Our pupils’ educational journey begins in our Preschool Department. In these early years, pupils begin to assimilate the knowledge, skills and strategies that they will use as the progress through the school. Through structured stimulation and communication, we help children to build self-esteem, manage their emotions and keep them interested in, excited by and actively engaged in the learning process. At Agora Portals International School, we understand that each child is unique, both in terms of their personalities and in the way in which they learn. Teachers, families and children are supported and guided during these early stages by our Educational Psychology and Guidance Department.

First Cycle (1-2 years)

The dedication, commitment and high professional standards of our teachers and teaching assistants during this very early stage, ensures that the basic needs of our youngest pupils are fully met. A strong and productive relationship between home and school is established to help us to ensure that the psychosocial and cognitive development of the youngest members of our school’s community progresses smoothly. Learning is facilitated through play via an activity programme that incorporates psychomotor skills, music, swimming, English, cognitive stimulation, mathematical games, artistic expression and so on.

Second Cycle (3-5 years)

At age 3, 50% of the Preschool classes are taught in English (conversation, reading, writing, psychomotricity, science, art and crafts and computing). Games and play continue to be an important source of stimulation and learning and we work to develop multiple intelligences to achieve our primary goal and the foundation of our education programme, to teach children to learn how to do, how to learn and how to be. This involves helping children to acquire necessary skills, develop useful habits, become more self-aware and to learn how to use a more logical, rational approach to problem solving. Children at this stage learn how to compromise, adapt and to become more open-minded, whilst maintaining a strong sense of themselves and their own ideas and opinions.
